The Bishop's Palace - The Plans

Bishop's Palace Masterplan

The site of the Bishop's Palace in Halling is owned by Medway Council.  As such it is publicly owned and there has long been a wish to develop it as a community open space.

Valley of Visions commissioned a landscape architect, Stuart Hubert, to develop a masterplan for the site to achieve this objective.  Following considerable consultation with local people, the local authority, heritage organisations and others, the plan was developed and planning permission gained.

The plan recognises the layers of heritage that exist on the site, whilst also providing a view across the valley and a place for children to play safely.  Surfaced pathways, seating on the embankment, natural play areas and interpretation explaining the rich history of the area will all be installed.  Work will be undertaken over the next few months and will be completed by late summer.

The plan can be viewed on both of the links below.
